Assam Police Recruitment 2026: 5,734 Vacancies (Dates Extended!)
If you’ve been refreshing the job portals every morning hoping for "The Big One," well, this is it.
The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) just dropped a massive notification. And I mean massive. We are looking at 5,734 vacancies in total.
It’s not just the usual Police Constable gigs either. This recruitment drive is a mix of everything—Commando Battalions, Fire & Emergency Services, the Forest Department, and APRO. So, whether you just finished your 10th, your 12th, or you’ve got a degree gathering dust, there’s likely a spot here for you.
First, The Good News (Dates)
If you thought you missed the deadline, relax. You didn’t. The board actually extended the application window.
- New Last Date to Apply: February 22, 2026
- Correction Window: If you made a typo, you can edit your form from Jan 17 to Jan 21, 2026.
Quick Tip: Don't wait until the 20th of February. Government servers always lag on the last few days. Get it done now.
Where Are the Actual Jobs?
5,734 is a big number, but it’s split across a lot of departments. Here are the roles most people are gunning for:
1. Assam Police (Main Cadre)
- Constable (UB): 1,052 posts (The most popular choice)
- Constable (AB): 663 posts
- Driver Constable: 127 posts
- Sub Inspector (UB): 48 posts
2. Forest Department
- Forest Guard: 504 posts
- AFPF Constable: 405 posts
- Forester Grade-I: 211 posts
3. Other Key Roles
- APRO Constable (WO/WT): 642 posts
- Fireman (F&ES): 337 posts
- Jail Warder: 138 posts
Can You Apply? (The "Fine Print")
Before you spend twenty minutes filling out the form, make sure you meet the basic criteria:
- Residency: You must be a permanent resident of Assam.
- Employment Exchange: You need a valid registration number. If yours has expired, renew it first!
- Language: You should be fluent in Assamese or another recognized state language.
Education & Age
10th Pass: Constable (AB) and Grade IV posts.
12th Pass: Constable (UB), Forest Guard, Fireman.
Graduates: Sub-Inspector, Asst. Jailor, Forester-I.
Age Limit: Generally 18–25 years for Constables. For Drivers, Grade IV, or Forest Guards, the limit goes up to 40 years. (Plus standard relaxations for SC/ST/OBC).
The Selection Process (Start Training Now)
Don't just bury your head in books. The physical test is where most candidates get filtered out.
- PST: Height and Chest measurements. (Male Gen/OBC: 162.5 cm | Female: 154 cm).
- PET: The run! 3.2 km for men and 1.6 km for women. Speed matters because faster times give you higher marks.
- Written Test: If you clear the physicals, you’ll be called for the exam.
